2009 Nakimera Moore Well rounded and multitalented, Nakimera is an honor roll student, an All-Conference varsity tennis and badminton player, an editor for the Evanstonian, our school newspaper, and a capable pianist. Nakimera’s school spirit is contagious and her love for her community is palpable and genuine. Nakimera has been able to maintain and even improve her grades while continuing to compete on the ETHS varsity team in the fall, in regional tennis tournaments in the winter and summer, and on the ETHS varsity badminton team in the spring. This past summer, Nakimera was one of the selected USTA players to participate in Tennis Europe, a teen tennis tour program that involved one month of tournaments in Spain and France. Nakimera was the first player on her United States team to win one of the tournaments, and a t the end of the program, she was named MVP of the Costa Del Sole Teen Tennis Tour Group. A features editor for the Evanstonian since sophomore year, Nakimera has been part of an editorial staff that reviewed The National Pacemaker Award from the National Scholastic Press Association. Active in the community, Nakimera has volunteered her time at the soup kitchen at Hilda’s place, taught young children soccer, and couched youth tennis at the Chandler Newberger Community Center. She has also served on the Cotillion Board for the past two years. Nakimera will pursue her education at Richmond the American International University in London and will major in Media studies Rachel Sanni Rachel’s many distinctions include receiving Math, Fine Arts, History and World Languages Department awards. She is a member of the National Honor Society. Rachel gives her time generously to many causes, clubs, and communities such as QUEST NAACP Student Council, Varsity Club, Community Service Club, the Literacy Committee and the School Improvement Team. Peers and adults respect and appreciate Rachel’s view point. Her willingness to stand up for what she believes-and her humor and common sense-enhances the effectiveness of these causes, clubs, and committees. Rachel will peruse her education at Howard University. Toure Bridges Toure has enjoyed an amazing high school career with accolades and awards too numerous to mention. He’s demonstrated leadership as President of the NAACP and devoted over 100 hours to community service through the Hugh O’Brian organization. He’s been a member of the National Honor Society, Hospitality Club, Bridge Scholars Program, R.A.C.E. and Diversity Club, Key Club, Causes Club, National Beta Club and Student Government Association. He will attend Howard University in the fall. 2008 Ruth Etrenne Ruth has found academic success while maintaining a job, participating in extracurricular activities, and volunteering. For the past few years Ruth has held a job year-round. Her contributions to ETHS have been as a member of the ETHS Track and Field team, the Book Club, the NAACP, and the Vocal Jazz and Chamber Singers. Ruth is an active member of her church and has used her musical talents there. Ruth's given spirit explains her participation in community projects such as Relay for Life, soup kitchens, and canned food drives. Ruth has maintained this high level of involvement without comprising her pursuit of academic excellence. She values education and works tirelessly towards success. Ruth will continue her success at Loyola University of Chicago where she plans to major in Journalism. Moriah Green Moriah is a very intelligent, hard-working, and talented young woman. She has a passion for challenging herself in new ways, through singing, performing on stage and being honest and self-reflective. Moriah has an incredible work ethic and has consistently maintained above a "B" average while also remaining diligent in her efforts to take on more rigorous courses. She has received numerous departmental awards in recognition of academic excellence. Moriah has also been a member of the Freshman, Sophomore, and National Honor Societies. Outside of the classroom, Moriah is very involved in the school community through various student activities, clubs, and committees. Moriah also finds time to volunteer in the community. One of Moriah's proudest accomplishments was landing a coveted spot in her first stage production, the ETHS adaptation of "West Side Story." For the past four years Moriah has performed with the Evanston Township High School Choir and taken voice lessons. Moriah will pursue her education at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Eric Rimpel Eric is a talented scholar athlete who balanced academic achievement inside the classroom with activities outside it as well. A member of both the Basketball and Track and Field teams, Eric also participated in the United Nations- UNIS conference. He secured an internship that sent him to Germany to study the hotel business and volunteered his time with various community organizations. Eric is pursuing his education at the University of Miami with a focus on Engineering. 2007 Brittani Fowlin Brittani is a young lady who displays hard work, dedication and enthusiasm. Since freshman year, Brittani has taken the lessons of high school and turned them into opportunities. She consistently stretches herself to meet her academic, extra curricular and personal goals. As a leader, Brittani has challenged herself to an increasingly rigorous course load and diverse participation in the ETHS community. Her involvement includes: Girls' soccer, Cheerleading, Chamber singers serving as a Choir section leader, Board Member of the Writers' Showcase, Choreographer of the Esande Dance Company; and working with the Community Leadership Project. Brittani is a young lady who understands the importance of giving to the community. Brittani plans to attend the University of Maryland College Park to study Architecture. Jennifer Lambert
Jennifer is a no-nonsense person who keeps her personal standards of achievement high. She has improved her grade point average each year while also increasing the rigor curriculum. Jennifer's focus and perserverance have contributed to her success. She has competed on the cross-country team, actively contributed to the school community as a Student Council Representative and Names Can Really Hurt Us co-facilitator, and devoted numerous hours to community service. As a junior, Jennifer earned a Community Service Award based on her extensive volunteer work through the YMCA's Community Leadership Program and at other school and community events. Given her love for the Spanish, Jennifer has spent the last two summers traveling to Spanish-speaking countries, living with host families, improving her language skills, and doing volunteer work. Jennifer will pursue her education at the University of Michigan and will major in International Business. Ian Dick He is a well-rounded student who excelled in Advanced Placement Biology, High Honors Trigonometry/Calculus. Ian played Lacrosse for his four years and also enjoyed being a member of the salsa club. He was a member of the Civics and Government Institute and a dedicated volunteer for Habitat for Humanity, Kids Helping Kids, and Students for a Safer Tomorrow (Treasurer). Ian will be attending the University of Maryland in the fall. Christian Pearson This extremely talented young man values creativity and those who are open to change. His leadership activities are too numerous to list but vary from tutoring to Captain of the Fencing team. His creative skills have won him awards at the Montclair Iris Garden Art Competition, The Univ of Pennsylvania's Museum of Modern Art, and the MHS Sidewalk Chalk Competition. All of this while achieving a grade point average of 4.13, membership in the National and Spanish Honor Societies and completion of 22 High Honors and Advance Placement courses. Christian will continue his education at the University of Pennsylvania this fall.

2006 Danielle Perkins Over her four years at ETHS, Danielle has chosen increasingly challenging classes that include honors and AP courses. She has been honored with several departmental award and the Black Caucus Award for her endeavors. Danielle is an intelligent, gregarious, and hardworking student who has been an athletic trainers for three years, been an Ebony Ball committee member, and a representative for the Minority Student Achievement Network. She traveled to Boston with MSAN and brought back ideas and a plan to implement in the Evanston community. Danielle was also one of few students who was selected to participate in the Partnership for the Future business internship program. She was interviewed and chosen as an intern fore L.E.K. Consulting Group. For three consecutive summers, Danielle worked four days a week at the company and on Fridays participated in seminars or college visits with the other students. In her free time, Danielle also does community service as a Bible study teacher and she was a vice-president of the Youth Action Ministry. Danielle will pursue her education at the University of Illinois at Urbana/Champaign.
Daphnay Sagaille Daphnay is an intelligent, forthright young lady. She is diligent in her work ethic and dedicated and involved throughout the school community. Daphnay has worked very hard to better herself and her grades over the the course of her high school career and has demonstrated exceptional success, particularly in the past two years. In addition to her academic achievements, Daphnay is very involved in school activities and demonstrates an incredible school spirit. She has been a part of the cheerleading squad throughout high school and was recognized in her junior year with an Honors Award from the Central Suburban League for cheerleading and academic excellence. In addition, Daphnay is a member of the National Honor Society, DECA, NAACP and Senior Class Board and still finds time to serve as the Vice President of Q.U.E.S.T. Daphnay will pursue her education at Tennessee State University, where she will study Business Marketing. 2005 Djaniele Taylor Djaniele strives for excellence in all that she does. She has improved her gpa each year while increasing the rigor of curriculum. Throughout high school, Djaniele has participated in interscholastic athletics, volunteered as many as 125 hours of community service a year, and particpated actively in her church youth group. Her academic achievement and contributions to the school and local community have earned Djaniele the Unity Award, Sophomore of the Year Award, NAACP Image Award, and the Destiny Girls Leadership Award from the YWCA. A varsity badminton player, Djaniele was named Most Improved her sophomore year and Most Inspirational her junior year. As a senior, she serves on the Principal Advisory Committee. Djaniele will attend Wellesley College where she plans to study psychology.
Jenna Hanchard Jenna's academic excellence, dedication to school activities, team sports, and passion to community service speaks for itself. For four years, she has dedicated countless hours to our high school newspaper. In her junior and senior year she has been an active participant in the Minority Student Achievement Network and worked in B-Day Staff Development groups with Ms. Selway, Mr. King, and other administrators, in providing ideas on enhancing teacher/student relationships and minority achievement in the classroom. In servicing students and the community at large, Jenna has been active in S.C.O.P.E, First Class, QUEST, and mentors freshman students in the enriched studies program every Wednesday. Jenna will pursue her education at Rutgers University where she will study English and African Studies.
Fred Newman Fred has done it all, and well. From Marching Band (trumpet) to wrestling and track and field, to participation in the Key and Diversity Clubs, his extracurricular schedule has been busy. Volunteer work at Tony's Soup Kitchen, numerous park clean ups, and fund raisers for HillsideElementary School's talent shows are the types of vounteer work this talented leader participated in. Fred will be heading to KeanUniversity in the fall.
2004 Sarah Wallace Sarah is an intelligent, determined scholar/athlete who set high expectations for herself, improved her academic achievement throughout her high school career and met her goals. A talented athlete, Sarah has been a valued member of both the ETHS volleyball and basketball teams. She serves as a tutor at Family Focus and volunteers at a local homeless shelter. She works as an intern in the Walgreen Pharmacy tech program as part of her Business Rotation class. Sarah will pursue her education at University of Illinois, Urbana/Champaign pursuing her interests in business and liberal arts.
Dominique Harrison Dominique embodies the spirit of this scholarship. She is an active, engaged learner who balances her life with sports and extracurricular activities. Dominique is an active member of Quest, the Minority Student Achievement Network, D.E.C.A, Project EXCITE and First Class. She represents ETHS at conferences and has won D.E.C.A. competitions. Dominique is also on the Principal's Advisory Committee, Black History Month Committee and the World of Difference committee. Dominique has played golf and basketball and is on the Women in Sports Day Committee. In addition to her myriad of activities, Dominique manages a challenging schedule of honors and AP classes. During the summer, Dominique attended a National Student Leadership Conference in the District of Columbia, studying business and commerce. She will attend the University of Illinois, Urbana/Champaign in the fall and plans to major in advertising.
Maurice Ingrram Maurice is a scholar and leader. He has served as President of the local TIGS, a group that promotes wellness without drugs or alcohol; President of the Modern Interpretive Dance Ensemble; Coordinator of the senior mentor program that mentors freshmen; Peer Leader; and a participant in many activites at the ROTC program. He accomplished all of that while working, most currently, at Starbucks. Maurice will be attending Rutgers in the fall. He wants to become a psychologist.

2003 Mya Edwards Mya Edwards has been involved in school activities, community service and team sports throughout high school, while maintaining a solid academic record. She has been a member of the basketball and track teams for all four years of high school. She is a two-year member of QUEST, First Class, and Varsity Club. Her community service activities have included Thanksgiving and Christmas basket and toy giveaways, work at soup kitchens, and work in her youth action ministry. Mya will be attending Florida A&M, majoring in Business Administration.
Dominique Nute Dominique is a determined, motivated student who has overcome many hardships and set high goals for herself. She has taken increasingly challenging honors and AP courses, and her grades have shown an upward trend throughout her high school career. Basketball is Dominique’s passion. She played Varsity for three years. She has also been involved in such activities as QUEST, Curriculum Forum Board, the Evanstonian, First Class and the PE Senior Leaders Program. Dominique has served the community as a volunteer for the Salvation Army, Howard Street Day Care Center, soup kitchens, and many tutoring and mentoring programs. Dominique will pursue her education at the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana majoring in Sociology. Her ultimate goal is to attend LawSchool.
Eric Glover There is no question that Eric possesses unique talent. From Theater to Dance to Acting to Writing, Eric has shared his creativity in so many phenomenal ways. The list of performances where he is featured is too long to print. Included in his seemingly endless schedule, Eric managed to be a great student, take on leadership roles in school activities and helped out his community. Since his sophomore year, he has dedicated over 100 hours of community service thru the Key Club at MontclairHigh School. Eric will be attending Swarthmore in the fall.
2002 Renee Pitter Renee’s commitment to serving others, personal integrity and dedication to academic excellence define her life and work. Her personal interests are reflected by the activities she has participated in at ETHS, including Cheerleading, choir, school plays, QUEST, INVEST tutoring, the senior class board, Student Council, and Music in the Parks. She will pursue her education at the University of Michigan, majoring in political science.
Angela Watt Angela has challenged herself with increasingly difficult classes while also playing varsity athletics and volunteering in the community. As a junior, she received a NAACP Image Award and was voted Most Inspirational Player on the varsity basketball team. This year, she was head captain of the basketball team. She will pursue her education at Southern Illinois University. She plans to major in Early Childhood Education.
Kenjamin Alonzo Rutgers University
2001 Joy Mason A young lady whose passion is theater, Joy has played roles in numerous productions at the FleetwoodJordainCommunity Center. A musician, Joy plays the flute, saxophone, French horn, and cello. She is a member of both ETHS's Marching and Jazz bands. Sports are an additional commitment. Joy has been a member of the varsity softball team for four years. What is especially remarkable is that she has a prosthetic leg as a result of an amputation because of a congenital problem. She volunteers at the Chicago Rehabilitation Center counseling mothers with babies born with similar problems. Last year, she was honored as an Outstanding Amputee by the March of Dimes. Joy will pursue her education at Columbia College in Chicago majoring in theater and film.
Daina Mallard A hallmark of this creative and intelligent young woman is her motivation. She is dedicated, hardworking, enthusiastic and driven. Daina has been a dancer throughout high school culminating in a solo tap performance in ESANDE 2001. Her contribution to all of our athletic teams is evident in her work as an athletic trainer. This led to her decision to pursue kinesiology and become a National Athletic Training Association certified athletic trainer. YAMO, softball, Youth Theater Workshop at Fleetwood Jordain Theater, and volunteer work at the Greater Chicago Food Depository and the AnimalMedicalCenter are all on her resume. Most recently, Daina was honored as a National Achievement Scholar with the local African American Achiement Award. She will attend college at the University of Illinois where she intends to study athletic training/sports medicine.
2000 Audrey Brewer Audrey's creativity, energy and concern for others have been seen through her community service and school activities. She has been involved in City Youth and Government, the Show Choir, Top Teens of America, the NAACP, ETHS Student Council and QUEST. When time allows, she enjoys singing and playing tennis. Audrey is currently attending the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, and plans to major in Biology as preparation for medical school.
Danielle McKinley Danielle McKinley is a confident, unassuming, enthusiastic individual, who, according to the Chicago Tribune, lead the Evanston Girls' Basketball team this season. She averaged 27 points per game throughout the season while earning first semester honor-roll status in the college prepartory classes of English, Human Behavior, 2nd Alegebra, Physics and Child Psychology. She performed community service at a soup kitchen with the basketball team. Danielle is currently attending John A. Logan College in Carterville, IL where she plays basketball and studies social work.
1999 Satrinya Pompey The first recipient of the Three Sisters Challenge Scholarship is Satrinya Pompey. Satrinya has demonstrated hard work and tenacity in her search for academic excellence, and has brought these same qualities to the athletic fields. Satrinya has participated on the girls' basketball and track programs and was the co-captain of the girls' track-and-field team her senior year. This four-year varsity girls' track team member also volunteered for the past three years at Chute Middle School. Through the health/science curriculum, Satrinya has worked "hands on" with many doctors at Evanston Northwestern Health Care. Satrinya has been awarded the ETHS Citizenship Award, made the all-conference track team three years running, and has been a state champion with the Evanston squad in 1997 and 1998. Satrinya is currently enrolled in BennettCollege where she is studying pre-med.
